The Ideal Morning Routine

The most productive time of the day is the few early hours in the morning. If these few hours are utilized properly the whole day will become effective and efficient. Unfortunately, most of the youth spend these important hours sleeping, watching TV, playing video games, on cell phones, or social media. These activities set a bad start to the day. A good morning routine is inevitable for success in any field of life. Almost all successful people have a productive morning routine.

So, are you ready to start a journey towards your dreams?

Here is an ideal routine for the morning

1. Wake Up Early (5:00)

At night go to bed early which will help to get up early in the morning. Take a sleep of at least 5 to 6 hours daily at night. The 5am time is the best time to wake up. But personally, I use to get up at 4am. I get an extra hour of productivity.

2. Prayers (5:10)

The first activity in the morning is to thank God for yet another beautiful day. Thank Him for all the blessings and pray for more blessings. Ask Him for help in the difficulties and problems that you face all day. Ask Him for forgiveness for all the bad things you have done. Pray for others; parents, siblings, spouses, kids, relatives, friends, neighbors, unknown people, and even for the enemies. 20 minutes of prayers will set an amazing start to the day.

3. Meditation (5:30)

The world is full of stress, anxiety, hate, anger, frustration, and distraction. It becomes difficult to focus on tasks at school, work, or at home. To prepare the mind to deal with all these negative factors, meditation is the best technique.

Initially practice a guided meditation technique. It will help you to get used to meditation. With time and practice, you will be able to do it without any assistance. There isn’t a single best technique. You can find a variety of books and videos on YouTube. Select the one, which suits you. As a beginner, 10 minutes session is enough, which can be stretched up to 30 minutes at a time.

4. Exercise (6:00)

A healthy and active mind depends on a healthy body. A healthy body is maintained by a balanced diet and regular exercise. Take a 30-minute time for work out every morning. You don’t need to join a proper gym. You can do it in a park, on the ground, or even in your room.

The strength of the exercise should be smaller in the beginning. Start with little and gradually move towards big. A walk in the woods, a run in the park, a session of weight lifting in a gym, and a small session of stretching in the room are some techniques of exercise. Choose the method which is suitable for your situation.

5. Shower (6:30)

After exercise, take a short rest for 5 minutes. The sweat you have drained during the workout should get dry. Then, take a shower of hot or cold water. Some experts prefer a cold shower in winter. Others advise a hot shower. But the final selection should be yours. The shower will boost your energy. You get refreshed. You get ready to start the day.

6. Journaling (7:00)

The plans will work, the goals will achieve, and the dreams will fulfill if everything is written. Write your plans of the day, your goals of the day, and your dreams of life in the journal. You can also set goals for the week, month, or even of the year. Also thank God for the blessings. Mention one or two blessings every day in the journal. Gratitude helps you remain satisfied and motivated.

Take at least 30 minutes for writing a journal.

7. Read (7:30)

Choose a good book, a magazine, or an online article to read. A good book is better than a newspaper. I prefer printed books to digital books. Reading on a PC or cell phone provides a lot of distractions. You can open multiple applications. You get distracted by social media notifications. Printed books are free of distractions.

Self-help books are the best ones to start reading in the morning. A 30 minutes session of reading a good book will set a good start for the day.

8. Breakfast (8:00)

At last, eat a healthy breakfast to energize your body. Take bread and egg with juice or milk. Don’t always take the same breakfast daily. Try verities of healthy nutrients. Avoid junk food like burgers, pastries, cakes, etc. It should be strong and full of energy. When your body is energetic your mind will also remain active.

Not to do’s in the morning

It would be a sin to waste such an efficient time in the morning. Few activities are a wastage of time and energy. The activities will set a bad tune for the day. Try to avoid the following

1. Cell Phone

The moment they wake up, most people search for their cell phones to connect to the internet and check the notifications. Checking the phone is the first activity in the morning of modern youth. This is never good for your mind.

2. Social Media

Most of the posts on social media are negative; accidents, robbery, killing, theft, hatred, crises, disasters, corruption, etc. When you check social media, your mind will be filled with these negativities unconsciously. In your mind, you see that the world is very bad and dangerous. You become stressed, anxious, frustrated, and angry.

Social media is a fake world. You only learn to compare yourself with the virtual ideal life. The plate forms tell you that you are living a below-average life. You get unsatisfied with your life. These negative thoughts destroy your daily life.

3. TV or Newspaper

Modern television and newspaper news is bad for mental health. There is more negative news than positive news. Doing nothing on a chair on the lawn is better than watching vulgar programs on television or reading rubbish news of the paper. Not only mental health, but these activities also destroy physical health.

4. Music

While exercising or walking in the woods avoid listening to any kind of music. Listening to music while exercising distracts your mind. A quiet moment is best in the morning. Try to listen to the sounds of nature. You can even enjoy the sound of silence.

5. Difficult Words in Prayers

God knows every language. He even understands the language without words, the language of the heart. Prayers don’t need pious religious phrases. Use simple, easy, and natural words. It is more comfortable. Just ask simple what you want.

6. Bad Books

Select the books wisely. A self-help book is better than a romantic novel. A book about great people is much better than a book about wars and crises. Select a book you can learn something from. A good book will motivate you to do more and more productive work.

Set a good start to the day and it will end in a better way. How much you can get from the day will be set by the first four to five hours of the day. Use these hours cleverly and the day will be efficient, effective, energetic, productive, amazing, and entertaining.
